Team Favourites from On The Move

When you work at On The Move Caravans, it’s no surprise that our team is just as obsessed with hitting the road as our customers are. We don’t just talk caravans – we live and breathe the lifestyle.

From red dirt adventures to creekside escapes to chasing the ocean, here are some of our crew’s favourite camping and caravanning spots (plus their go-to road-trip playlists and podcast picks).

Robin – On The Move CEO

Favourite Spot: Anywhere by the beach, up and down the east coast.

Robin admits it’s hard to pick just one favourite spot – because for him, it’s all about chasing the water.

“I’m very much a beach person. I want to get my caravan as close as I can to the water, go fishing and just enjoy it. With most of our range being off-road, I can pretty much get the van right to the water’s edge and I absolutely love it,” he said.

So far, Robin’s adventures have taken him up and down the east coast of Australia, but South Australia and Western Australia are still on his must-do list when he gets some time away from the office.

What he loves most about van life? The simplicity.

“My favourite thing is just how relaxing it is. You can leave your phone behind, go for a walk, sit around a campfire, or go fishing with friends. It’s just pure relaxation. To be honest, it’s always hard to come back to work afterwards!”

Kent – General Manager

Favourite Spot: Out west – Charleville, Longreach, Winton.

Kent’s idea of a perfect trip? Heading west until the bitumen turns to red dirt.

“I love getting out into the red dirt; Charleville, Longreach, Winton, those sorts of places. Just something different to where I live,” he said.

For him, van life is all about freedom: “What’s not to love? You’ve got your home with you, everything you need, but you can still go wherever you like. If there’s a tough track that leads to the most Instagram-worthy spot, I want to have the option to take it.”

Kent’s been an OTM owner long before he was GM. He believes the brand’s commitment to innovation and listening to its customers is what makes On The Move stand out.

“It’s about building what people actually want, within reason. We can’t fit a spa bath in (yet!), but we’ll always push the limits of what’s possible.”

Brig – Brand Administrator

Favourite Spot: “Literally anywhere but home!”

Brig’s camping style is adventurous and spontaneous.

“We try to go different places each time just so we can see new things. But somewhere with a creek is always a winner,” she said.

Some of her top picks include:

  • Kenilworth Parklands – grassy campsites, a sparkling creek and great facilities.
  • Mt Barney Lodge – stunning scenery and bushwalks for those who want to stretch their legs.
  • Rathdowney and Larapinta at Laravale – peaceful, scenic spots perfect for unwinding.

Her favourite part of camping?

“What I love about camping is the fresh air and cooler temps—especially in winter when we can put the diesel heater on and get cosy. Plus, it’s about getting out and seeing different places.”

Favourite Road-trip Soundtrack: A mix of Aussie rock and old school hits. She and her family also love podcasts – especially The Nod with Charlie Borman (a legend in the motorbike world, which is fitting since Brig and her crew are keen motorbike riders too).

OTM Crew Picks Road-Trip Tunes

Our team knows the drive is just as important as the destination. Here are a few of our go-to podcasts and playlists for the road:

  • Short Histories – bite-sized tales from the past.
  • Survival Stories – gripping real-life adventures.
  • Huberman Lab – science-backed tips on health, performance and mindset.
  • TED Talks Daily – quick ideas worth sharing.
  • The Nod Podcast – for motorbike lovers (and Charlie Borman fans).
  • 80s & 90s Pub Rock – an OTM favourite that always gets the sing-alongs going.
  • Classic Aussie Rock – because no road trip is complete without it.
